007 New Year's Eve Party  Popkin's Tavern holds a special bash benefiting cancer patients and their families, asking guests to dress up as their favorite spy, villain or babe from secret-agent films. The party starts at 8 p.m. $25-$35. 123 W. Broad St.  

Art6 Gallery New Year's Eve Party  Art6 Gallery holds a night of dancing and music by artists Rattlemouth and Balkanize at 9 p.m., also featuring a cash bar, free snacks and complimentary champagne to toast the arrival of midnight. $20. 6 E. Broad St.

Lucky Buddha New Year's Eve  The Shockoe Slip spot offers up VIP booths and personal bartender service for partying groups, from $50 to $1000 per booth. The party starts at 8 p.m. with DJs at 9 p.m. Regular admission is $10-$15. 648-5100.

Murder Mystery New Year's  The Mystery Dinner Playhouse performs a special medieval murder mystery comedy, “Who Killed the King” while the audience enjoys a four-course dinner at the Holiday Inn West End at 7:30 p.m., followed by champagne and party favors at midnight. $58. 2000 Staples Mill Road. 649-2583.

Roots Music New Year's  The Canal Club holds a night of old-time and bluegrass performances by Jackass Flats, A Good Natured Riot, the Fox Hunt, and Special Ed and the Shortbus starting at 7:30 p.m. with champagne and dancing. $15-$20. 17th and Dock streets, 643-CLUB.

Six Burner New Year's Cocktail Hour  The popular Main Street restaurant hosts an hour-long evening of specialty hors d'oeuvres, as well as a cash bar, 6:30-7:30 p.m. With chefs from Italy, Germany and South Africa serving roasted scallops, lobster and smoked bacon, grilled mahi and New York strip steak, the ticket for admission is $85-$110 a person. 353-4060.

Toad's Place New Year's Eve  The Mighty Toad hosts a night of dancing, hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a midnight balloon drop, offering VIP sofas and sky boxes for the occasion. Doors open at 9 p.m. with advance tickets at $15. 140 Virginia St. 648-8623.
