Spencer L. Turner envisions the past, present and future as one. As shown by his show, “New Relics for Old Acrimony,” Turner layers images of Byrd Park’s history to create a futuristic montage of the Richmond neighborhood. The end result of re-contextualized digital topography is like viewing a collective dream through the prism of social media photo apps. Turner put the show together as a community-building art project, with one of the pieces, “#sawOfeve,” as a collaborative work featuring various artists’ photos in a large piece. The show opens at the 1212 Gallery on Friday, Jan. 24, from 6-10 p.m., and will feature a performance by comedian and musician Herschel Stratego. The exhibit will be available for viewing till Feb. 28. 1212richmond.com.
