Murder Most Gay

With the funk of Valentine's Day hanging in the air like gun smoke, it's important to remember that love can lead you to some strange and terrible places. So when looking at that adorable new amore you wooed with heart-shaped key lime pie, ask yourself, "Would I commit the Crime of the Century with this person? And would I set it to music?" In Stephen Dolginoff's musical, "Thrill Me: The Leopold and Loeb Story," one of the most famous crimes in American history reveals its softer side. Two wealthy University of Chicago students, Nathan Leopold (Elliot Lau, right) and Richard Loeb (Chris Hester), fall for one another and decide they are smart enough to commit the perfect murder. But love is blind, and also lacks an alibi, and so the two are caught. The nature of their relationship makes it yet more sordid to the gentle people of the 1920s (plus they were Jewish!), and the Richmond Triangle Players bring this strange confluence of passions to Fieldens Cabaret Theatre, through March 4. Tickets are $16-$20. 346-8113. S
