Monsters of Mock at the Hat Factory

While Guns n' Roses' Axl Rose may have been instrumental in making hedonistic hard rock the late '80s with songs such as “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Sweet Child o' Mine” and “Paradise City,” there's little incentive to see the erratic frontman take part in an actual live performance these days. Notorious for onstage fits with concertgoers, late starts and walk-off departures, the risk of drama isn't worth the price of admission. Thank goodness for tribute bands such as Appetite for Destruction, whose members devote themselves to the music of their idols, leaving behind the less-than-stellar character flaws. Joined by the likes of Red White & Crue (MAtley CrA┬Če), Poison'd (Poison), Tuesday's Gone (Lynyrd Skynyrd) and Backseat Confidential (all-female AC/DC), Appetite for Destruction is scheduled to headline the Hat Factory's Monsters of Mock tribute festival. The night of impersonation kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. $12-$15. 788-4281. — Mike Hilleary
