Mo' Moossa

It's remarkable how well the six members of Richmond's Moossa are able to capture the sounds of so many genres in just an hour, the length of their latest album. "Route 17," the fourth studio effort by the self-described "collection of like-minded vagabonds," jumps from reggae to big band, from alt rock to blues, in a matter of seconds. Singer, acoustic guitarist and namesake John Moossa's gravelly, soulful voice leads most of the tracks, though Nancy Waldman, the band's only female member, shines in the big-band number "Hold On." The group performs at Capital Ale House Saturday, May 31. Doors open at 9 p.m. $10 cover charge includes the group's new CD. 780-ALES. -- Katy Johnstone
