Mills Family Band at Ashland Coffee and Tea

Friday, July 6

Bringing together the sounds of old-time bluegrass and folk with jazz and soul, the Mills Family Band has played everywhere in Richmond — the Camel, Bogart’s and Dogwood Dell. After playing locally for several years, siblings Allyson and Curtis Mills got together with mandolin player Chris Hale and saxophonist Samson Trinh, and discovered something special about the eclectic sound they were producing. The group’s live album “Live at the Rams Head Tavern,” contains only a fraction of the energy it has in person. See the full spectacle of sound when the Mills Family Band performs at Ashland Coffee and Tea on Friday, July 6, at 8 p.m. $10. 798-1702.
