May the Divine Be With You

comment
The way it comes to Shulman, in his words, is "like dictation from the inspiration." "You could say from the muse," he reiterates. "I ask the divine for the music, the music comes and I play it." Those who get their soul composed in inspiring music walk out with about a half-hour of music that is supposed to complement and support their personal connection to "the divine," what Shulman considers as the bonding life force we are all a part of. For Shulman, the end result is "basically a symphony of their souls." Shulman gives soul portraits at Unity Christ Church of Bon Air, Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Reservations required. He performs a free service of remembrance at the church Wednesday night at 7:30, and a concert of holiday works Friday night at 7:30. The suggested "love donation" is $15. Call the church for more information and reservations, 320-5584. — wayne melton
