Long Arms, Hypercolor, Mayfair and the Story Changes at the Camel

Saturday, March 1. 9 p.m.

Richmond’s Long Arms makes modern pop country that isn’t repulsive. I know that sounds impossible, but it’s true. The band’s new release, “Constant Comment,” listens like a well-adjusted Lucero at its most peppy and upbeat. I’m sure country purists will pooh-pooh on the group’s bubbly charms, but who cares? Its altruistic, poppy punk Americana isn’t about strict adherence to the past, it’s about having a good time. Two-plus years in the making, Long Arms celebrates the release of its new CD on Saturday, March 1, at the Camel with fellow Richmond good-time enablers Hypercolor and Mayfair, and the duo the Story Changes from Dayton, Ohio. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $7. thecamel.org.— Chris Bopst
