Dan Whitney has made a career for himself playing the part of an American stereotype. Better known as Larry the Cable Guy onstage, the Nebraska native has spent several years slipping into the role of a humorously off-color redneck. Breaking through to mainstream audiences as part of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour in 2000 alongside Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Ron White, Whitney's drawling character has become so popular for his brand of  good-old-boy, PC-killing one-liners that he's become one of the most successful entertainers, selling millions of comedy albums and packing arenas. Finding fans in blue states and red states, urban areas and rural, Whitney is sure to appear in his signature jeans, camouflage hat and sleeveless, untucked flannel shirt when he performs at the Richmond Coliseum on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. $44. 800-745-3000. — Mike Hilleary
