Jim Connor at Goochland High School

Banjo player Jim Connor is one of only a handful of people who can say they've had one of their songs sung by Kermit the Frog. Serving as a band member to John Denver for more than 20 years, and later as a member of the New Kingston Trio, Connor is most recognized for writing “Grandma's Feather Bed” off Denver's 1974 album, “Back Home Again.” Out of respect to his longtime friend and collaborator, Connor continues to perform familiar Denver favorites such as “Rocky Mountain High” and “Country Roads,” in concert as John Denver's Banjo Man. Helping Goochland High School with a fundraiser, he's scheduled to perform in its auditorium Friday, March 11, at 7 p.m. $7. 457-2113. — Mike Hilleary
