Rebounding from the demise of Prabir and the Substitutes, frontman Prabir Mehta joined up with drummer Gregg Brooks and classical musicians Matt and Treesa Gold from the Richmond Symphony to form Goldrush. The quartet plays an eclectic mix of rock and baroque music that’s been gaining national attention, including a chance to play at this year’s South by Southwest Showcase. Recently, the group’s been working with Motion City Soundtrack and Drexel University’s Mad Dragon Records on its Making Moves series, a collection of 7-inch records that feature talented, emerging artists. Goldrush’s Making Moves set, which already has been featured in Guitar World, will be released Aug. 28. To celebrate, Goldrush performs at the Camel on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 9 p.m. Free. thecamel.org.
