Girl Talk at the National

Saturday, Jan. 29

Girl Talk must time and time again wear out the Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V buttons on his laptop. The alias of Pittsburgh native Greg Gillis, this one-man master of the mash-up genre has spent the past 10 years taking immediately recognizable hit singles — past and present, popular and underground — and recontextualizing each snippet and brief musical blast into a collage of manic copyright  infringement. Where half the fun is identifying the source material, Girl Talk has taken his meticulous club remixes to a new level, laying down more than 373 samples in 71 minutes on his latest album, “All Day.” Accompanied by a 12-man crew of lighting technicians, video specialists and other stage production professionals, Girl Talk is scheduled to perform at the National on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 8 p.m.
