Conjuring all kinds of images of its home state and its bordering locales and wilderness, Michigan's Frontier Ruckus undoubtedly delivered one of the best folk albums of 2010 with its sophomore full-length, “Deadmalls and Nightfalls.” Featuring the wry warble of leader Matthew Milia, bittersweet acoustic melodies and the occasional warming brass or singing saw, Frontier Ruckus regularly evokes a mountain-cabin equivalent to Conor Oberst or Jeff Magnum's Neutral Milk Hotel. Rustic and lived-in, with plenty of diverging dirt paths from the back porch, Milia and Frontier Ruckus lament and love with some of the best modern Americana you'll have heard in quite some time. Frontier Ruckus is scheduled to perform at the Camel on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m. $10. 353-4901. — Mike Hilleary
