Admit it, some of you wanted to vote for Ukrop’s, didn’t you? While everyone fights over the fancy-pants organic stores, big-boxing and the Martin’s replacing Ukrop’s, Kroger just gets it done. It’s big, well-organized, cheap (but not too cheap) — and it takes chances the others won’t. Kroger opened in Carver near VCU when Ukrop’s wouldn’t and it’s building a new store at long-abandoned Cloverleaf Mall.
