Event Pick: Willie Nelson and Family and Levon at Innsbrook After Hours

Sept. 23

Willie Nelson is America’s favorite outlaw. Like the Stones, filmmaker John Waters, or fellow country music outlaw Johnny Cash, the seven-time Grammy Award-winner has been around long enough that his once divisive past is almost forgotten. People don’t think of him as another country musician with a criminal record, they think of him as their beloved pot-smoking uncle with a colorful past. What solidified Nelson’s rightful status as a cultural icon is his music. He’s one of the last of the great American 20th-century melody-makers still playing shows. When future generations want to know what being American was all about, all they have to do is put on some Willie. Get up close and personal with the living legend and his guitar, Trigger, on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Innsbrook After Hours. Levon opens. Gates open at 5 p.m. $20-$99. innsbrookafterhours.com.
