Event Pick: John Wiese, Doone/Sharitza and Scant at Sediment Arts

Saturday, April 25

With more than a hundred 7-inch records to his credit, John Wiese is the embodiment of a musical work ethic. Add to this impressive resume stints with LHD, Sissy Spacek, Sunn O))), Wolf Eyes, Evan Parker and No Age, and the argument could be made that Wiese is the hardest-working unknown man in show business. The prolific sound manipulator from Los Angeles made his name pursuing roads less traveled. His wildly varied body of work is defined by his John Cage-meets-“Star Trek” inclinations to go where no man has gone. Abrasive and challenging to be sure, his electronic alchemy is never boring, pushing ears to listen in consistently engaging ways. He brings his post-“A Love Supreme” explorations to Sediment Arts on Saturday, April 25. Richmond boundary pushers Doone/Sharitza and Scant set the mood before he takes the stage. Doors open at 7 p.m. Suggested admission is $10-$15. sedimentarts.org.
