Event Pick: Cannibal Corpse, Cattle Decapitation, Soreption and Left Cross at the Broadberry

Oct. 12

Cannibal Corpse is death metal. A mixture of hardcore thrash and black metal, the Buffalo, New York, group has come to define the intensely orchestrated adrenaline rushes associated with the pedal-to-the-metal sub-genre. “A Skeletal Domain,” the group’s 13th studio album on Metal Blade Records, continues the its defining obsession with speed. Blinding blitzkriegs such as “Headlong into Carnage” and “Bloodstained Cement” are distinctively gnarled and grotesque in their execution and barked subject matter. The group’s Ritalin-fueled raptures are an acquired taste, but for those who like extremes, Cannibal Corpse is the head-banger’s choice for joy rides in a car with no brakes. The group brings its odious offerings to the Broadberry on Monday, Oct. 12. Cattle Decapitation from San Diego, Sweden’s Soreption and Richmond’s own Left Cross open. Doors open at 7 p.m. $25. thebroadberry.com.
