The 45-year-old is still set to perform at the Carpenter Center in the Laughter Arts Festival, alongside fellow comedians Bobcat Goldthwait, Victoria Jackson and Lewis Black, says Kristin Berrier, director of marketing and public relations for the Carpenter Center. "We're looking forward to the performance," Berrier says.

Last week, the Sacramento Bee reported that Meaney's argument with the soldier started after he refused to stop videotaping airport security procedures. Federal law has prohibited such videotaping since Sept. 11. Also, Meaney's wife, Mary Ann Halford, reportedly set off a metal detector at the American Airlines checkpoint. After she was asked to submit to a pat search, Halford pulled up her shirt and exposed her bra, the newspaper reports.

The situation escalated from what officials considered to be "extremely rude and hostile" comments to a brawl with the soldier.

Meaney was arrested and brought to the San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City, Calif., on a felony count of attempting to remove a peace officer's firearm and misdemeanor counts of battery and disturbing the peace. He was released after posting $10,000 bail.

Meaney's management company, Shapiro/West & Associates of Beverly Hills, declined to comment.

The comedian's entertainment credits include "Big," starring Tom Hanks, a stint as a regular cast member on "Saturday Night Live," and his own comedy special on Comedy Central. — Chris Sandlin
