Defining "Dogtown"

You folks may want to check your information on your reference to "dogtown" ("The South Side," Cover Story, Aug. 8). I do not think it was a term used to describe the entire South Side. I believe it was a term used to describe a certain section of the South Side around the Porter Street area that when seen on a map, looks like a dog's head.

By the way, I grew up in South Side and graduated from Oak Grove Elementary, Bainbridge Junior High, and George Wythe. In the day it was a great place to live, very different and very laid-back, compared to life north of the river.
