Whether as the figurehead of the Misfits during the late '70s, its short-lived follow-up project Samhain, or under his own surname, Glenn Danzig has maintained a secure cult following through the decades by bringing his unique brand of sludgy, comic book-inspired violence and horror to the music of gothic punk and heavy metal. With a vocal bellow easily reminiscent of Jim Morrison, Danzig's most renowned song remains the 1988 track "Mother," an open admonishment of overbearing parents and explicit content censorship. Touring only sporadically in his later years, Danzig and his band are scheduled to perform at the National in support of the group's 2010 album "Deth Red Sabaoth" on Friday, May 13, at 7 p.m. $20-$25. 612-1900.
