Whimsical was the buzzword Saturday, March 8, at Easter Seals Virginia's Eggstravaganza. In its seventh year, the event that "keeps getting bigger and better," as co-chair Susan Freeman says, was the stuff dreams are made of.

Held at the Children's Museum, the sold-out gala included live and silent auctions. Governor's School band Knights of the Pool Table provided entertainment, while guests sipped martinis from a bar made entirely of ice.

The high point of the evening was the Easter egg hunt in the Robins Community Commons, the fairytale-like forest in the center of the museum. Hosted by WRIC's Lisa Schaffner, the hunt gave guests the opportunity to search for eggs, each hand-designed by students in Virginia Commonwealth University's fashion merchandising program.

Each egg held the ticket to a cash prize, a delicate Fabergé egg pendant (donated by Sycamore Jewelers) and other treasures. Proceeds benefited Easter Seals Virginia, whose mission is to create solutions to change the lives of children and adults with disabilities.
