Best Local TV News Anchor or Reporter

Sabrina Squire, NBC-12

Second Place: Juan Conde, 8 News

Third Place: Curt Autry, NBC-12

She may look half the age of her former cohort, Gene Cox, but she’s neck and neck with him when it comes to on-air longevity. Sabrina Squire marks her 33rd year at NBC-12, having been with the station since 1981. “The same warm, compassionate person you see on television is the real Sabrina,” News Director Frank Jones says. “I think that’s what Richmond loves about her.” Squire anchors four newscasts a day, including the highly rated 11 p.m. — which recently received a regional Emmy nomination (locally they’re vying against the team at CBS-6). Squire is teamed in that newscast with runner-up Curt Autry, who’s been in the biz since 1982 and has made a colorful recent presence on Facebook. Second-place winner Juan Conde, at 8 News, still is well known for his days on Power 92, and last month celebrated 15 years at WRIC.
