Author Chris Terry at Chop Suey Books

Sunday, Aug. 4. 2-4 p.m.

Former Richmonder Chris L. Terry returns to the capital city Sunday to promote his new book, “Zero Fade” (Curbside Splendor). The fictional story, set in Richmond’s North Side in 1994, tells the tale of seventh-grader Kevin Phifer and his trials and tribulations with girls, bullies, shoplifting, his gay uncle’s coming out of the closet, Mama dating, stand-up comedy, being grounded and haircuts. With accolades mounting for his slyly comical and nuanced take on teenage angst; this is a good chance to get up close and personal with the author before he becomes too popular to talk to regular folks. Sunday, Aug. 4, from 2-4 p.m. at Chop Suey Books, 2913 W. Cary St. chrislterry.com. — Chris Bopst
