Lover, hero, prince, villain, even the god Apollo — Richmond Ballet’s Igor Antonov has danced them all, and then some. “There is no dancer in the history of Richmond Ballet who has had as long a presence on the Richmond Ballet stage as Igor Antonov,” says Stoner Winslett, its artistic director. His strength and clarity, adorned by heroic build and a curling smile, have enriched the company’s repertory for 25 years. Now he’s ready for the next chapter. Starting this week, Richmond Ballet bids him farewell in “A Tribute to Igor Antonov,” a program of works showcasing his talent and growth with the ensemble. Though he’s leaving the stage, he will stick around the ballet to teach and coach, so you haven’t heard the last of him. “A Tribute to Igor Antonov” will be presented at Richmond Ballet’s Studio Theatre on Sept. 8-18 at 6:30 p.m. except Sunday matinees. $30-$75. A “Party for Igor” also is planned at the CenterStage on Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. $52. 344-0906, ext. 252.
