+8 Dogs, along with an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 humans, dress up for the annual Easter on Parade along Monument Avenue. Apparently the cockapoo is the new black (lab).

-4 The historic Eggleston Hotel, a Jackson Ward landmark under renovation, must be demolished after part of the building collapses. Unfortunately, that annoying Roaming Gnome was not staying there at the time.

+3 Less than two weeks after a Style Weekly story triggers public criticism of the Richmond School Board enacting what's in essence a gag order — or “communications protocol” on its members — the board abolishes the policy. The Freedom of Speech SOL is a tough one, after all.

+5 The eight-day James River Film Festival kicks off its 16th season of celebrating independent cinema. Which means 16 years of telling our uncle that doesn't mean it's a porn festival.

+3 A local company unveils the area's first glossy lifestyle magazine for gays and lesbians, Outlife. It's bimonthly, not that there's anything wrong with that.
