1 Midlothian teenager Paul Kohler II accomplishes a rare feat, the T-D reports, earning all 121 Boy Scout merit badges. We always got stuck on leatherwork, though we got our hide tanned plenty of times at camp. Darned Indian leg wrestling.

3 The free nighttime bus service, To the Bottom and Back, launches a third route for bar-hoppers, circling through the Fan, North on Boulevard and along Broad Street to Shockoe Bottom. GPS mapping technology hasn't come through for the drunks this well since Lindsay Lohan found her way out of rehab.

8 'Tis the season for festivals, with crowds pouring into the weekend's 10th anniversary celebration of First Fridays, the Italian Street Festival, 2nd Street Festival, Carytown Wine and Food Festival and Capital Ale House's downtown Oktoberfest. How can this town be so happening and still not sell a decent hot dog anywhere?

1 Speaking of pork, Southern celebrity chef Paula Deen visits an enthusiastic Richmond audience at the Landmark Theater. This woman can handle anything! Shards of fried cheese in her intestine? No problem! An aorta that allows for the free flow of cheesecake? Heck yeah, ya'll! But you should have seen the fit she threw after learning that all the local butter was in use at the State Fair.

2 Members of Virginia's tea party movement gear up for their first big conference at the Greater Richmond Convention Center this weekend. It's just like the American patriots of yore and their struggle against oppression! Except with free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and complementary bagels. Let the people rise up!
